The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will hold its 17th National Conference & Exhibition in Columbus, Ohio, on November 5-8, 2015. Preconference events, including workshops, educational and school tours, and the best practices showcase will take place November 4 & 5. The conference theme is “Experience Education Evolution.”

A division of the American Library Association (ALA), AASL promotes the improvement and extension of library services in elementary and secondary schools as a means of strengthening the total education program. The organization’s mission reads: The American Association of School Librarians empowers leaders to transform teaching and learning.

Conference Information

General Session Speakers

Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Executive Director of the Curriculum Mapping Institute and President of Curriculum Designers, Inc., will speak at the opening general session on Thursday, November 5.

Members of Project Connect will participate in a panel discussion on Friday, November 6.

Brian Selznick, award-winning author and illustrator of children’s books including The Invention of Hugo Cabret, will speak during the author general session on Saturday, November 7. Appearance made possible by Scholastic.

Eszter Hargittai, Delaney Family Professor in the Communication Studies Department and Faculty Associate of the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University, will speak at the closing general session on Saturday, November 7.
